Detroit 1-8-7 is an American police procedural series about Detroit's leading homicide unit, created by Jason Richman for ABC. It features an ensemble cast of actors including Michael Imperioli and James McDaniel. The series originally ran on ABC from September 21, 2010 to March 20, 2011. The show's executive producer, David Zabel stated, "This is a crime show but we will explore various nooks and crannies in the communities and within that context there's a lot of opportunity to see what's positive in the city and see what's heroic about the people fighting for what’s best for the city of Detroit." The 1-8-7 of the title is a specific reference to the California Penal Code designation for homicide, which has become a slang term for murder. The Michigan Penal Code designations for the various forms of homicide begin at 750. On May 13, 2011, Detroit 1-8-7 was canceled by ABC. With the cancellation, series creator Jason Richman has said he is pursuing options for the series to continue on cable television, also stating that chances for the move are "slim". The DVD set for the series was released on August 30, 2011.

Pawnshop #8 is a Taiwanese television series produced in 2003 and focusing on two characters who share ownership on a pawnshop. The supernatural-tinged show currently airs on ImaginAsian in the United States. Critically acclaimed and well received in numerous Asian countries, especially Mainland China, Pawnshop No. 8 blends elements of Western religions such as Christianity excellently with pre-modern and modern Chinese society. The main theme of the Pawnshop No. 8 is that of love, with the main background of the eternal conflict between Heaven and Hell, good and evil, God and Satan. Jon & Kate Plus 8, renamed Kate Plus 8 for the sixth and seventh seasons, is an American reality television series which aired from April 4, 2007 until September 12, 2011. After the success of two one-hour specials, Surviving Sextuplets and Twins and Sextuplets and Twins: One Year Later, the series aired on the Discovery Health Channel for the first two seasons before being moved to TLC. It follows the daily lives and challenges of the Gosselin family, consisting of parents Jon and Kate and their eight children: fraternal twins and sextuplets. During its run, the series was one of the network's highest-rated programs, with the fifth season premiere seen by a record 9.8 million viewers, the most watched show of that evening including broadcast television, twice as many viewers as the show’s previous series high. After the Gosselins' divorce in 2009, the final episode of Jon & Kate Plus 8 aired on November 23, 2009, announced by TLC three days earlier. The series was later renamed Kate Plus 8 on June 6, 2010, focusing on Kate as a divorced mother raising the children, with Jon appearing less frequently. However, filming was later suspended due to Jon's lawyers delivering letters to TLC demanding that they cease and desist production and barred production crews from the couple's Pennsylvania property on October 1, 2009. This led to putting the show's revamping on hold. TLC planned for "a series of specials" if the series did not go into production.

Rescue 8 1958

Rescue 8 is a syndicated American action drama series about Los Angeles County Fire Department Rescue Squad 8. It premiered in 1958 and originally ran for two seasons with syndicated reruns continuing for almost a decade thereafter. It starred Jim Davis as fireman Wes Cameron, much later cast as Jock Ewing on CBS's Dallas, and Lang Jeffries as the fireman Skip Johnson. Nancy Rennick and Mary K. Cleary each appeared in twenty-four episodes as Patty Johnson and Susan Johnson, the wife and daughter, respectively of Skip Johnson. The series was produced by Screen Gems, with directors Dann Cahn and William Witney. Rescue 8 produced seventy-four half-hour episodes. The real Los Angeles County Fire Department Station 8 is at 7643 West Santa Monica Boulevard in West Hollywood, California. Rescue 8 shows more physically oriented rescues than the later, similar television series Emergency!, as firemen were not then trained as paramedics but acquired the expanded role in the early 1970s.

Circle 8 Ranch

From 1955 until 1978, Circle 8 Ranch was a popular weekly country and western television program broadcast each Tuesday night on Wingham, Ontario's CKNX, Channel 8. It began as a radio program called the CKNX Barn Dance on CKNX's AM sister station. The half hour variety show was first hosted by broadcaster Johnny Brent, then later by musician Ernie King. The program featured popular country acts of the local, provincial and national stage. Each program ended with the memorable words "Lets say goodbye like we said hello, in a friendly kind of way..." Don Robertson's Ranch Boys hosted many CKNX Barn Dances in the Southcentral and Southwestern Ontario areas. The travelling show was an offshoot of the popular program. Regular cast members who developed into regional celebrities were Ernie King, Hugh Elder, Ross Mann, Don Robertson, Cora Robertson and Wayne Riehl. Over the years, the program helped launch the careers of such Canadian music luminaries as Tommy Hunter, Al Cherney, Gordie Tapp, The Good Brothers, Gordon Lightfoot and The Mercey Brothers.

8:15 from Manchester 1990

8:15 from Manchester was a Saturday morning children's magazine show broadcast on BBC1 when Going Live! was in summer recess. Broadcasting from Manchester, it was presented by Ross King and Charlotte Hindle. The first edition was broadcast on 21 April 1990. It was produced by Martyn Day. BBC Radio 1 weathergirl Dianne Oxberry joined for the second series, which began on 28 April 1991. The format was very similar to Going Live!, with imported cartoons punctuating items, such as games, music performances and interviews. A regular segment was The Wetter The Better, a game show based in a swimming pool and hosted by Ross King. A weekly drama was shown, in which the short episode ended in a dilemma of some sort. Two endings had been filmed and viewers telephoned to vote which ending would be shown. It also incorporated a repeat run of Rentaghost, though all the pre-1980 episodes were omitted and the end-credits rarely seen. Later, episodes of Grandad, starring Clive Dunn, were also shown. The theme tune was by Inspiral Carpets: a rewrite of their single "Find Out Why". An early edition had a feature of how the theme was recorded.
